Appearance

As befits an indestructible smartphone, Blackview BV7000 Pro looks brutal. Typically, such devices are quite large, but in this case, the manufacturer did a great job of reducing the thickness of the case, making the BV7000 Pro only 12.6 mm thick. For comparison, the previous model BV6000 was 16.6 mm, and similar devices from competitors sometimes reach 17 mm.

The body of the gadget is made of metal and something like rubberized plastic. The five-inch display is covered with Gorilla Glass 3, and in addition, a frame protruding above it protects the screen from a collision with a flat surface, say, asphalt.

In the upper part of the front panel there is a speaker, covered with a metal plate, which mostly performs a decorative function. There are also light and proximity sensors, as well as a front camera. Below the screen there are touch navigation buttons “Menu”, “Home” and “Back”.

The back panel is made of rubber-like plastic with several metal plates. The feeling of reliability is enhanced by metal screws screwed around the perimeter of the entire device. On the back of the BV7000 Pro are a 13-megapixel camera with flash, speaker, manufacturer’s logo and a fingerprint scanner, which has no complaints. It works instantly and practically does not make mistakes when unlocking.

Power and volume keys are located on the right side of the case. A little lower you can find another button – it is programmable, it can launch any application. All keys are made on the same level with the body and practically do not stand out, so they are difficult to find by touch.

A tray for SIM cards was placed on the left side, the place of one of which can be used for a memory card. The USB Type-C connector is covered by a plug and is located on the bottom of the device. The connector itself is strongly recessed deep into, and a third-party wire simply will not reach it. If anything, AliExpress sells such chargers for Blackview rugged smartphones, so it’s better to order several spare ones right away.

The BV7000 Pro is available in three color options: Stardust Grey, Mocha Gold or Space Silver. In fact, the variations almost do not differ externally: only the color of the metal inserts changes, while the case itself remains black. The silver version of the smartphone has arrived at w3bsit3-dns.com.

Screen

The smartphone has a five-inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution. The pixel density is 441 ppi.

Gorilla Glass 3 has a high-quality oleophobic coating, it glides a finger well and wear marks are easily erased from it. The viewing angles are maximum, the image quality does not deteriorate even at the most extreme inclinations. The sensor processes up to nine touches, the sensitivity is at a high level.

But the brightness level is not high enough to work in direct sunlight. The light sensor also raises questions and often interferes with comfortable use. It’s easier to adjust the brightness manually, even if it requires extra work. The black color is displayed strangely, on the screen it is light gray.

There is no color temperature adjustment function in the display settings. But you can turn on adaptive brightness control (but it’s better not to), adjust the LED indicator and change the font size.

Interface

Blackview BV7000 Pro runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with its own software add-on. In addition to standard applications from Google, there is practically no extra software in the device, so you don’t need to root to remove preinstalled programs.

There are not so many differences from bare Android. The manufacturer slightly changed the look of the OS, redrawn application icons and notification panels, added some convenient little things, for example, a search screen when you swipe to the left. He also removed the section with all applications, so new programs from the Play Market appear immediately on desktops. In the interface settings, you can turn on the standard mode with the menu button, as well as set up the animation of scrolling screens and hide unnecessary software.

There are often untranslated words in the settings.

In the settings there is a Parallel Space function that allows you to create copies of applications. For example, you can use instant messengers and social networks with two accounts on one device.

Dialer, address book and keyboard are standard for this version of Android.

The set of interfaces is standard for modern devices: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM receiver modules work on board. Everything works flawlessly. But NFC support, unfortunately, is missing.

Navigation supports GPS and GLONASS systems. Satellites are determined quickly enough: it took just a few seconds for a “cold” start.

Device in operation

The smartphone has an eight-core processor Mediatek 6750T, Mali T860, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. This set shows mediocre performance in synthetic tests, but does not fail in daily use. The speed of the interface is pleasantly surprising, as there are no hints of lags. Active use of several applications and constant switching between tasks will not cause discomfort.

The BV7000 Pro does not handle heavy games so well. For example, “tanks” at maximum settings give out only 10 frames per second. Even on the lowest graphics settings, FPS does not rise above 30. There will be no problems with simpler games.

Doodle Jump DC Super Heroes is going well, the sensor is quickly processing the movement. Lara Croft Relic Run. The game process is smooth, the graphics are at a high level.

Godfire: Rise of Prometheus. The game started quickly, ran smoothly, but sometimes slowed down in the most dynamic scenes. World of Tanks: Blitz. At the maximum graphics settings, only 10-15 FPS, you can play only at the most “minimal”.

Applications launch quickly, scrolling and zooming in the browser are at a high level.

With Full HD movies loaded into memory, the smartphone also handles perfectly.

As is often the case with gadgets protected from water, the sound of the speaker cannot be called good. The protective membrane and placement under the body greatly distort the sound. But the volume is very high – just do not miss the call. The bundled headset sounds flat and very quiet, but it can be used for phone calls and listening to audiobooks.

The Blackview BV7000 Pro has a 3500 mAh non-removable battery. With active work, it will last for the whole day. This includes calls, constant correspondence in social networks and instant messengers, about an hour of web surfing, the same amount of video viewing, various types of synchronization. In the settings, you can activate the power saving mode, which limits the CPU and turns off all background processes. With it, it will be possible to stretch even two days.

When watching a video in Full HD at the maximum backlight level and with the offline mode turned on, the smartphone was completely discharged in 6 hours and 48 minutes. For one hour of playing at half brightness and with active Wi-Fi, about 26% of the battery charge is spent.

The kit includes a special OTG adapter that can be used to charge another smartphone. A useful feature for those who will use the BV7000 Pro as a spare device. The bundled AC adapter fully charges the gadget in about two hours.

Camera

The device has a simple 13 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.

The camera app launches quickly and takes a photo instantly. For an acceptable frame, it is desirable to use HDR, but this will not be the key to success. You can evaluate the quality of photos on test shots.

Shooting indoors: the camera correctly set the exposure and white balance, but there are problems with the focus.

Close-up shots without flash Close-up shots with flash

Night shooting is not the strongest side of the device. In low light, it is difficult to get a clear frame, the camera constantly blurs the picture. The result is blurry photos with poor detail and a lot of noise.

The main camera does a pretty good job of panning. The pictures are relatively detailed and saturated.

The 8 MP front camera takes poor quality photos: the colors are not very natural, the light is too contrasty, the detail is low. It will do for video calls, but selfie lovers may be disappointed.
